What's with the title?

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
Treat others how you want to be treated.
Be kind.
Give people the benefit of the doubt.
Be gentle with others.
Love.
Forgive.
Be understanding.
Consider others' points of view.
Love some more.

We've all heard of the Golden Rule in some form or another.  I've long been a believer  that many of the world's problems could  be resolved if everyone followed this simple rule.  The version most people around here know comes from the Bible, but in fact the same message exists in many religions around the world.  But it doesn't have to have anything to do with religion whatsoever.  And I think that if I teach my children nothing else, I want to teach them to live this way.  Thus, the title of this blog.

This rule is important to follow when educating a unique learner like Will.  While I think I have an idea of what's going on in his head, there is no way that I will ever know for sure what it feels like to live life from his perspective.  I need to be gentle.  I need to be patient.  I need to be loving.  I need to be kind, and understanding, and forgiving, and I need to treat him the way I want to be treated.
